Job Overview

The AV Field Engineer / Commissioner is the "final mile" expert responsible for the successful testing, calibration, and hand-off of sophisticated AV systems. This is a critical technical role that bridges the gap between installation and a fully functional client solution.

You will act as the primary technical voice during the final stages of a project, ensuring every component—from DSPs to network interfaces—works according to design intent. The ideal candidate has a "solution-oriented" mindset, excels at independent problem-solving, and is comfortable being the professional face of the company during client hand-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive testing, calibration, and commissioning of AV systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Fine-tune Digital Signal Processors (DSP) and activate hardware components using various manufacturer software and web interfaces.
  • Build and configure AV networks, interfacing with client IT environments regarding TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, and firewalls.
  • Collaborate with remote programmers to load code, diagnose interface issues, and troubleshoot system logic.
  • Conduct final quality control checks on installations and recommend or perform corrective actions to meet company standards.
  • Provide professional end-user training to clients, ensuring they are comfortable and confident operating their new technology.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the service department to assist with complex troubleshooting and ongoing support.

QualificationsRequired:

  • 3+ years of experience installing, integrating, or servicing professional AV systems (audio, video, and control).
  • Strong Networking Foundation: Proven ability to integrate AV systems into client networks (VLANs, IP addressing, etc.).
  • Technical Versatility: Experience with a variety of platforms such as Crestron, BiAmp, QSC, AMX
  • Independent Operator: Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise strong technical judgment on active job sites.
  • Professionalism: Polished communication skills for interacting with high-level enterprise clients during the final project phases.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.

Preferred:

  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-I Certification.
  • Proficiency with documentation and field tools like Bluebeam, Fieldwire, or OnTrack.
  • Experience with Solutions360 (Q360) or similar ERP/Project Management software.
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Crestron Masters, BiAmp Tesira, Q-SYS).

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25% – 50% travel required.
  • Frequent local travel within the Issaquah / Seattle / Bellevue area.
  • National travel for commissioning projects at client locations across the country.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid company holidays.
  • Mileage reimbursement for local travel.
  • Monthly cell phone stipend.
  • Access to company vehicles for site visits.
