Job Overview
The AV Lead Installation Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality commercial audiovisual installations from start to finish.
This position is ideal for someone with strong field installation experience who enjoys taking ownership of projects, directing small crews on-site, and ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, and clients while serving as the day-to-day leader in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead commercial AV installation projects on-site while directing technicians and subcontractors as needed.
- Install complete audiovisual systems including displays, projection systems, audio equipment, DSPs, control systems, racks, structured cabling, and related hardware.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, system schematics, and installation documentation.
- Perform cable installation, rack building, equipment mounting, terminations, and system hardware installation.
- Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers and engineering teams.
- Provide clear end-of-day updates and project progress reports.
- Troubleshoot installation issues independently while knowing when to escalate technical challenges.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout each project.
- Ensure projects meet company quality standards while maintaining safe job sites.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of commercial AV installation experience.
- Experience installing complete AV systems from rough-in through final hardware installation.
- Strong understanding of:
- Cable installation and termination
- Video walls
- Audio systems
- DSP hardware
- Commercial AV infrastructure
- Ability to read blueprints and installation documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance and customer-facing demeanor.
- Ability to work independently while also leading others on job sites.
- Willingness to travel nationally up to 25–50%.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
- Previous experience leading installation teams.
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS, or similar commercial AV platforms.
- Washington EL06 or Oregon Limited Energy license (not required).
- Background in commercial integration or live event production with permanent installation experience.

$30.00–$40.00 per hour
